Y Stabl – A Cosy Coastal Retreat in the Heart of Gower
Tucked away down a peaceful woodland lane in the pretty village of Llanrhidian, Y Stabl is a beautifully converted one-bedroom former stable offering a tranquil escape on the stunning Gower Peninsula. Sitting directly on the Wales Coast Path, this charming hideaway is perfect for those looking to slow down, reconnect with nature and explore one of Wales’ most beautiful areas.

From gentle countryside walks and dramatic coastal scenery to sandy beaches, swimming, cycling and surfing, everything Gower is famous for is right on your doorstep. With several popular wedding venues nearby, Y Stabl is also an ideal base for wedding guests wanting a peaceful place to stay.

The Space
Y Stabl forms part of Woodlands House, where I have lived for over 17 years. The building itself is around 100 years old and has had many lives — from working stables to creative workshops. During the renovation, original features such as beautiful stained glass were carefully preserved and incorporated into the space, giving Y Stabl its unique character.

The property is self-contained, located next to Y Llofft (a separate Airbnb listing), and close to the main house, while still offering privacy and a real sense of escape.

Stone steps lead up to the entrance and into a quirky, open-plan living space with a cosy sitting area, dining table and modern kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with:

Electric oven and hob
Integrated fridge with freezer compartment
Dishwasher and microwave
Pots, pans, crockery and glassware

Downstairs you’ll find a shower room and toilet, while upstairs the bedroom features a super-king bed, nestled into the eaves for a truly snug and characterful feel.

Freshly laundered bed linen and bath towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels if needed). To help you settle in after your journey, you’ll also find a small welcome selection of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a sweet treat waiting for you.

Outside, Y Stabl has an enclosed seating area — a perfect spot to relax with a drink and watch the sun set after a day exploring Gower.

Due to the age and character of the building, Y Stabl is delightfully quirky:
There are stone steps leading into the property
A small step separates the lounge and kitchen areas
Steep, open wooden stairs lead to the bedroom
The bedroom is set within the eaves, with restricted head height in places

For these reasons, Y Stabl is not suitable for guests with mobility issues.
