Duck House | 1 Bed Shepherds Hut | Gower
About this property
Stay Gower proudly presents ‘The Duck House’, a shepherd’s hut, in the area of Upper Killay, Swansea. Beautifully presented in a wonderfully relaxing garden with, as the name suggests, ducks and some cheeky chickens! This perfect little getaway is ideal for 2 people, wanting some peace and quiet but also wishing to be within driving distance of all the area has to offer, including a host of Gower beaches, as well as Swansea city centre and the Mumbles.
The Duck House is located in the large back garden of the owner’s home. There is ample parking for 1 or 2 cars in the front of the main house, with enough space to ensure nobody is blocked in or travel interrupted during your stay. Making your way behind the house, into the garden, you will find the Duck House, which overlooks the ducks and chickens wandering freely within the boundaries of their space.
Patio furniture is provided for you to sit and enjoy the relaxing pond and birds as they go about their business. In addition, you may want to bring a disposable BBQ, to use on the provided stand nearby, ready for you to maximise your outdoor enjoyment!
Inside, the Duck House is heated by an electric radiator, together with a heated towel rail in the bathroom. There is free Wi-Fi, a small TV and a Hi-fi unit. The kitchen is perfect for meal preparation with an oven and hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. The table is attached to the far end with bench seating, ample room for 2 people to share and enjoy a home cooked meal or a takeaway treat from one of the many local restaurants.
At bedtime, after a long day of exploring and relaxing, the comfy double bed is lowered carefully from the wall behind the dining table. Please note: this is quite heavy so it can be set up prior to arrival if necessary, just let us know! Of course, the seating area & table are unable to be used when the bed has been lowered over them. At the other end of the Duck House is the bathroom, complete with toilet, wash basin and shower, and a wardrobe.
Heading out to explore, the Gower has a spectacular selection of beaches. We strongly recommend visiting Rhossili Bay, which is a bit of a walk down to the beach but well worth the trek! The choice of restaurants is extensive, too many to list, but whatever takes your fancy, can be found in Killay, Swansea and Mumbles. Locally, food and a few drinks can be found at the Black Boy, the Commercial and the Village Inn, all to be found on Gower Road, Killay. Lastly, Mumbles boasts some of the best ice cream to be found anywhere. Indeed, all holidays to Swansea & Gower MUST include a Joe’s Ice Cream!
